What changes have been made in the pattern of prelims & Mains in 2026?
The 20-mark module on Sports and Yoga has been removed from the RAS examination. In its place, provisions related to the Rajasthan Examination Act, 2022 have been incorporated. Previously, the Main Examination consisted of four papers, of which three were General Studies papers and the fourth was a combined paper of Hindi and English.
Earlier, the General Studies syllabus comprised 13 modules, including a module on Sports and Yoga. This module has now been discontinued. Simultaneously, certain components within other modules have been expanded. For instance, the portion related to Law and Management has been increased. Furthermore, all questions carrying 2 marks have been eliminated. In place of these, the weightage of 5-mark and 10-mark questions has been increased, thereby emphasizing analytical and descriptive evaluation.
In the Hindi and English paper, the question paper has now been structured into three parts: Part A, Part B, and Part C.
- Part A (Hindi) carries 90 marks
- Part B (English) carries 70 marks
Additionally, Part C is an Essay section of 40 marks. In this section, six thematic topics will be provided, and candidates will be required to write one essay on any one topic, either in Hindi or English, according to their preference.
