On Monday, a two-day state-level Van Mela held by the Forest Department at the Secretariat Nursery, Jaipur came to a successful end. The activity engaged powerful citizen engagement and aimed at the advocacy of the forest-based products, enhancement of environmental awareness, and the rural livelihoods improvement by means of sale and knowledge-sharing workshops.

• Satyanarayan Chaudhary posted data regarding Lasoda propagation methods, and other products.
• Devendra Bhardwaj gave a presentation on the significance of forest medicines.
• Charan (Rishita Singh) wrote about the preparation of gau kasht (wood of cow-dung).
• Mahipal Singh Sisodia presented ideas of the concept of forest wealth conservation.
• Ashok Sharma talked about nutritional significance and worth of the millets and coarse grains.

These conferences guided and inspired the members of the forest department, its young people and the general people in the field of self-employment, conservation of biodiversity and sustainable development.

• Shikha Mehra (Principal Chief Conservator of Forests-Development), Ramkaran Khairwa (Chief Conservator of Forests, Jaipur) and some of the DCF level officers (DCF Jaipur (North), DCF Jaipur, DCF Sikar, and DCF Van Vardhan) also attended the closing ceremony.
• Senior forest officials as well as Jaipur District Collector Jitendra Kumar Soni, State Wildlife Board member Namrata Bharti and others paid a visit to stalls and inspired the participants during the mela.

 Conclusion

The state-level Van Mela in Jaipur was a show of increased consciousness among the population on nature conservation, forest resources and rural livelihoods. Having a great number of visitors, various forest products, expert facilitated technical workshops the event was a huge arena in terms of environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, livelihood promotion and community involvement.
