Under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, Rajasthan has set a significant milestone of surpassing 1 lakh rooftop solar installations as on 12 November 2025. It is experiencing a high growth in the uptake of solar by households by the Jaipur, Ajmer and Jodhpur DISCOMs. As interest in consumer interest has risen and with the consistent state government aid, Rajasthan has greatly increased the pace of addition of the rooftop solar capacity, which currently stands at cumulative total capacity of 408 MW.

This success is not only due to the fact that the state has been trying with the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma to increase the presence of solar energy in the state.

In Rajasthan DISCOMs have put some reforms to make rooftop installation simpler and faster:

• Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to help simplify operations.
• No application fee during time of application.
• 100% charge refunded based on installation only on electricity bills.
• No growth in security deposit.
• Preference on PM Surya Ghar application.
• Waiver of meter testing fee and net metering agreement fee.
• These features enhanced the speed of installations greatly and minimised delays.
• Choice of Ideal Solar Villages.

 11 Districts Chosen Under the Scheme.

Previous villages are determined as Ideal Solar Villages under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana:

Salasar (Churu), Dabi (Bundi), Mor (Tonk), Mishroli (Jhalawar), Jethana (Ajmer), Kelwa (Rajsamand), Dalot (Pratapgarh), Chanana (Jhunjhunu), Bhawri (Pali), Chauth Ka Barwara (Sawai Madhopur), Basai Nawab (Dholpur).

The individual villages will each get allocated 1 crore of funds to encourage solar efforts in the community.

Boost from 150 Units Free Electricity Scheme.

The supplemental Subsidy of 17000 to the eligible consumers.

Extra 17000 subsidy to consumers registered under Mukhyamantri Free Electricity Scheme who possess rooftops.
