What is RAS 2024 and Why This Interview Matters,

The RAS 2024 (Rajasthan Administrative Service and Subordinate Services Combined Competitive Examination 2024) is a flagship recruitment exam conducted by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) to fill various administrative positions in the state. The selection process typically includes

  • Preliminary Examination
  • Main Written Examination
  • Interview / Personality Test

The interview — the final stage in the selection process — plays a critical role. Marks from the interview are combined with mains results to prepare the final merit list. For many candidates, this interview is their final opportunity to prove suitability for civil service.

What Happens in the Interview / Personality Test

The RAS 2024 interview is not superficial. It is a design-based assessment to test the applicability of a candidate to civil service. The following are the common criteria that are employed by the interview panel:

  • General awareness and knowledge: National/state-level developments, current affairs, social and economic issues, and issues unique to Rajasthan (history, geography, and culture).
  • Personality and communication skills: Expressiveness, confidence, being present, and articulation skills.
  • Knowledge of written application (Detailed Application Form): The details that you have given - academic background, service preference, and eligibility - can be discussed.
  • Situational / administrative sense: Hypothetical/real-life situations to evaluate reasoning, decision-making, and ethical judgement.
  • Comprehensive aptitude to work in the service of the community: Integrity, temperament, and awareness.

Results of this interview (typically out of 100) are added to the overall exam score to determine the final merit list.

You must carry the following documents - in original and self-attested photocopy - to be allowed entry:

The candidates will not be permitted to take the interview without these documents. This is well outlined in the official notice.

Interview Day: Important Instructions & Guidelines

To ensure that you are not upset during the interview day, follow these instructions:

  • Arrive at the venue earlier than the reporting time (30-45 minutes early)
  • Bring original papers and photocopies of everything needed.
  • Carry the interview call letter and photo ID.
  • Formal civil service interviews require one to dress neatly and in a professional manner.
  • Collect the mobile phones before going into the interview hall.
  • You should only enter the hall when asked, wait courteously and do what you are asked to by the panel.
  • Pay attention to questions, speak slowly and respond in a clear and confident manner.
  • Be calm and collected; do not get nervous or talk a lot.

Any of these instructions can be disqualified if not adhered to.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Many candidates lose marks or are disqualified not because of lack of knowledge, but because of avoidable mistakes. Avoid these pitfalls:

  • Arriving late or after the scheduled reporting time
  • Forgetting any required document or not carrying original
  • Carrying unclear or non-self-attested photocopies
  • Answering in a hurried, confused, or unstructured manner
  • Losing calm if asked a difficult or unexpected question
  • Showing overconfidence or arrogance
  • Presenting false or exaggerated information

Preparation Tips for a Successful Interview

Viva-voce evaluates outside the academic knowledge; therefore, emphasis is on the following areas:

  • Intelligence update general knowledge - national and international affairs, updates of state and policies, and administrative matters.
  • Sightseeing in Rajasthan: Revisit History, Geography, socio-economic problems, and cultural heritage of the state.
  • Look through your application form and remember what you are interested in (education, preferences, hobbies, achievements).
  • Do mock interviews with friends/family in order to enhance communication, body language, and confidence.
  • Read newspapers every day, particularly opinion pieces and editorials that may assist in the analytical or ethical queries.
  • Practice clarity of thoughts - confident and articulate responses are weighty and non-agitated.
  • Make yourself ready for situational questions: civil service needs proper decision-making, moral clarity, and management instincts.
