Rajasthan is making rapid progress in achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) through initiatives like Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya Yojana, which provides INR 25 lakh health insurance per family—the highest in India. 88% of households in Rajasthan are covered under some form of health insurance (NFHS-5), ensuring financial protection against medical expenses.

Expanding Healthcare Infrastructure

There are 43 medical colleges in the State as on December, 2024, out of these 6 are in government sector, one constituent college of Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS), 22 medical colleges of Rajasthan Medical Education Society (RajMES), one ESI college in Alwar, one All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Jodhpur and remaining 12 are in private sector. The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model is being leveraged to further enhance training capacity and healthcare delivery. Additionally, Apex Training Institutes are being established to continuously upgrade the skills of healthcare professionals.

Access to Free Healthcare Services

Rajasthan has prioritised free medicines and diagnostic services under

  • Mukhyamantri Nishulk Dava Yojana

Provides 1,828 free medicines, including cancer treatments, reducing out-of-pocket expenses.

  • Mukhyamantri Nishulk Janch Yojana

Offers free diagnostic tests (90 tests in medical colleges, 56 in district hospitals, 37 in CHCs and 15 in PHCs).

Improving Maternal and Child Health

  • Institutional deliveries increased from 11.6% (1992-93) to 94.9% (2020-21), ensuring safer childbirth.

Food Security & Civil Supplies

Rajasthan is ensuring food security for its citizens through an extensive Public Distribution System (PDS). The state operates 27,366 ration shops, providing free monthly ration to 4.44 Cr. beneficiaries. Rajasthan state ranks 15th (June 2022) in India on the National Food Security Index with a score of 0.694, reflecting its strong implementation of food security policies, legal provisions and nutrition initiatives.

Support for Vulnerable Sections

  • Antyodaya ration card holders receive 35 kg of wheat per family per month.
  • Other eligible beneficiaries receive 5 kg of wheat per person per month under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) until 2029.
  • Benefits are accessible through Ration Cards, Aadhaar Cards and Jan Aadhaar Cards.

Affordable Cooking Gas for All

To ensure clean and affordable cooking fuel, the Mukhyamantri Rasoi Gas Subsidy Yojana provides 12 subsidised LPG cylinders per year at INR 450 per cylinder. Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) ensures subsidies reach beneficiaries' bank accounts directly, reducing financial burdens.

Promotion of Shree Anna (Coarse Grains)

As a major producer of coarse grains, Rajasthan is integrating nutrient-rich millets into Targeted PDS to diversify diets and reduce wheat dependency. Regional procurement will support sustainable agriculture and local farmers.
